In stark contrast to the other ‘Hacienda’ in the city (the name for the Spanish tax office) – this charming Mexican in El Born is one place where you wouldn’t mind getting stuck for a few hours!
Located on one of the area’s most desirable pedestrianised streets (Carrer del Rec 69), La Hacienda opened in 2010 promising to bring “the Mexican experience” to Barcelona.
Decked out with original items imported from Central America and with classic Mexican films playing on the TV screens, the Mexican vibe in this colourful bar and restaurant definitely cannot be disputed.
La Hacienda has a refreshingly casual feel about it – offering good honest Mexican food and drinks at extremely competitive prices. Their special lunchtime menu is a big hit amongst Born’s working brigade at 12.50 Euros, and a variety of cracking drinks deals ensures the bar keeps the lively atmosphere going well into the night!
Porktie does have one word of advice before you visit .....if you’re getting a taxi to La Hacienda, make sure you specify to the driver that your taxes are all in order and you fancy a burrito!
Tequila Time
Made from the blue agave plant that grows on the outskirts of the city of Tequila, this Mexican spirit has been responsible for many-a-sore-head the world over. La Hacienda is well-equipped with a variety of Tequilas with prices starting from just 2.50 Euros
