In 1872, August Kuentzmann Damm and his wife Melanie left their native Alsace to escape the Franco-Prussian war and headed for a new life in Barcelona.
Four years later, having been joined by his cousin Joseph Damm, August made a bold decision to start a family beer company. Using their own special recipe, they began producing ‘Strasburger’ – a beer they marketed with a star symbol on the logo.
Over 135 years later, the name may have changed but the same star and original recipe remain to this day, with both still used to produce what we now know as Estrella Damm. Well, if it aint broke, dont fix it!
